Time is on the Side of Grammatical Evolution

Recently we tried to estimate how much time it may take to run GELAB in Matlab. There is this strong notion that Matlab would be much slower than C++ or Java. And it is true as well. Matlab is an interpreted language after all. However, running GELAB using parallel computing revealed promising results. GELAB was not too bad at all. Here is our paper on this and you might want to peruse that.

The computational complexity of Evolutionary Algorithms (EAs) is a well-known concern. This paper is concerned with the resource consumption of GELAB, a novel Grammatical Evolution (GE) system implemented in Matlab.
